Interconnection Study
Interconnection standards specify the technical, legal and procedural requirements that customers and utilities must abide by when a developer seeks to connect a renewable energy system to the grid. Utilities regulate the interconnection through comprehensive standards. States and local governments can influence the process as well. Each entity conducts themselves differently and navigating the interconnection regulations can be a daunting task.
There is no substitute for being well prepared and knowledgeable about the interconnection process before you submit an application for interconnection. Solar Energy Services will perform an interconnection study reporting on the utility, state, and other Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) requirements for grid-tied PV systems. Reporting will detail:
1. Electric utility tariffs
2. Net metering agreements
3. Power purchasing agreements
4. Interconnection capacity constraints
5. Interconnection fees
6. System design requirements
7. Ownership and retention of Renewable Energy Credits
8. Safety, power quality, codes and standards
